When Fire Flies
Chapter 1
Jemma raised her head at the sound of a twig snapping. She sighed. Running away hadn’t been the best idea, because it had gotten her kidnapped. Now she was hanging by her heels upside down, waiting for someone. Maybe something. Any way to get free before her captors got back. But it always seemed that when she needed help, it didn’t come, and when she didn’t need help, she got help. Jemma heard another twig snap, but didn’t look up. Maybe that was a bad mistake, for there was someone moving in the forest who could have been of assistance. And she probably could have saved their lives by telling them that they might be kidnapped. Too late. Jemma bit her blindfold, trying to see. Someone was speaking. Something hot and sticky was raining down on her head. And someone was screaming.Chapter 1

“Sweetie,” a voice was speaking sarcastically..”Git down here right now!” Jemma felt the ropes being cut and she landed on her head. Hot blood dripped down her face as the blindfold was cut with a shaky hand and the knife slashed her face. She looked up and saw a mean looking man and woman. Jemma didn’t stop to stare, she made a run for it. “ Get back here this instant!” bellowed the man. But Jenna didn’t stop until she tripped on something. A Big, Silver stone. But it wasn’t a stone. It was an egg.13
